Im going to attend Nipissing University next year and they said that i would get a educational institute student discount from apple on their Mac book pro and air. But i was lead to believe its just the regular educational institute student discount apple already offers.

Yes, it probably is just the normal educational discount. If you want to see what those prices actually are, head over to http://store.apple.com and choose "Education Store" on the left-hand side of the screen.
